Local baseball players were recognized on the Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association All-State teams. Will Dembski of Pella Christian was selected as a 1st team pitcher in Class 2A, and Gabe Thomas of Pella was a 2nd team outfielder in Class 3A. Dembski won eight games as a pitcher in 10 starts with a 1.62 ERA and 106 Ks in 60 1/3 innings. Thomas hit .346 with 13 stolen bases and 10 extra base hits for Pella this year. Grant Fouch was recognized as a 2nd team 2nd baseman in Class 3A. Fouch hit .341 with 19 stolen bases and 41 runs scored. Fouch graduated from Pleasantville in May, completing his senior season as a three-sport athlete, starting in basketball and football.
