The Pella City Council held a public hearing Tuesday evening to annex 35 acres of land for resurfacing of a gravel road. Council approved a resolution to have four property owners voluntarily annex into the city limits along 218th Avenue near Neal Drive and the Shady Brook Development. It is being completed so the city can resurface the gravel road adjacent to those properties to hard-surface. Council also set dates for public hearings on October 1st relating to a proposed urban renewal plan and development agreement with Lely for their proposed new headquarters. An update about Big Rock Park was also given, in which Mayor Jim Mueller stated there will be a delay in developing a committee for the project to consider the future of a disc golf course at the park.
