Pella residents and businesses continue to take top prizes at the 2019 Iowa State Fair. Ulrich Meat Market in Pella took 1st place in the Summer Sausage in the Best of the Wurst competitio. JVM Cattle Company of Pella brought home several 1st place awards in the South Devon Exhibitors competition, winning Grand Champion Purebred Bull and Champion Purebred Iowa Bull and Champion Purebred Iowa Female, among several other blue ribbons. Myron Linn of Pella won thinnest legs in the Mr. Legs Contest held at the Iowa State Fair, which included the categories of overall leg appearance, several leg divisions were judged during the contest, including tannest, whitest, hairiest and thinnest legs. Marissa Sharp of Pella threw a rubber chicken 60 feet to win the Women’s Rubber Chicken Throwing competition. Sharp won the 17 and over division of the Cow Chip throwing contest as well. Atticus Vos of Pella won 1st place in 13 different categories in the Grapes and Small Fruits Crop Judging contest.
