The Indianola Community School District officially begins their 2019-20 school year on Monday, with Indianola High School, Indianola Middle School, Whittier Elementary, and Emerson Elementary beginning classes. Firefighter Bob Soukup tells KNIA News new drivers who may be commuting to school or to and from different activities, need to pay extra attention.
“Just keep in mind that you are excited, you are 16 and just got your driver’s license, driving yourself around for the first time. But you are young and inexperienced. That doesn’t mean you aren’t a good driver, that just means that you haven’t had much time behind the wheel. So keep that in mind, experience comes with the passage of time, and to take extra care with what you are doing, and make sure that phone is put down.”
Wilder and Irving Elementary Schools have been in session throughout the summer. For more information on back to school safety, tune in to today’s Let’s Talk Indianola.
