Central College has announced changes to its board of trustees, including the addition of four new members and the retirement of two others. Kristi Jaarsma Balk, Mark Ellingson, Steve Perkins and Mark VanderLinden were elected as new members, beginning their terms July 1. Barbara Kniff-McCulla and Denny Hanson retired as members of the board. Board members provide vision for Central’s future and meet on campus twice each year. The board of trustees also elected faculty trustees Russ Benedict, professor of biology; Lori Witt, associate professor of history; and Cathy Haustein, professor of chemistry. Robert Franks, professor of computer science, and Keith Jones, Mark & Kay DeCook endowed chair in character and leadership and professor of psychology, begin their second year. Student trustees for this academic year are Anne Williamson, senior; Elise Askelsen, senior; Nicholas Cooper, senior; Parker Majerus, senior; and Emily Opsal, senior.
