Knoxville Fire and Rescue has a new piece of equipment crews are eager to use. The department with the help of the Knoxville Fire Association was able to make the purchase of a new Utility Terrain Vehicle (UTV). The UTV was purchased with funds raised through different fundraising events like the annual Nationals Pancake Feed. Firefighter Matt Boston with the Knoxville Fire Association and Knoxville Fire and Rescue tells KNIA/KRLS News the new UTV will be used primarily to get into difficult locations such as areas around Lake Red Rock or during major events such as Nationals. Boston says fundraising still isn’t done as the department would like to add fire suppression equipment on the UTV as well as set it up for patient transports.
