The Pleasantville volleyball team opened their season Tuesday evening by traveling to conference foe Earlham. The first match of the season went the distance, with the Trojans picking up a 5-set win. The first two sets were very closely contested, with Earlham taking the opener 25-22. Set 2 took bonus points to decide, as Pleasantville evened up the match with a 27-25 win. The Trojans took the lead with a 25-17 win in Set 3, but the Cardinals would force a fifth set with a 25-20 win in Set 4. Pleasantville had the upper hand in the deciding set with a 15-8 win.
The Trojans move to 1-0 overall and 1-0 in the West Central Conference. Earlham is 0-1 overall and 0-1 in league play. Pleasantville will be back in action for their home opener Thursday against defending league champion Des Moines Christian. Earlham has their first road game Thursday when they travel to Panorama.
