The last chance to register online for the upcoming Your Life Matters 5k is Wednesday, September 4th. Last year, the run featured over 500 participants and raised over $15,000 for suicide prevention awareness. Proceeds from this year’s 5k will go towards scheduling mental health speaker Jeff Yeldon, who will visit Knoxville September 30th through October 1st to speak with the community as well as Knoxville students. Organizer of the run, Scott Karr tells KNIA/KRLS News the money is needed to help bring in guest speakers as well as help support the Marion County Coalition for Suicide Prevention. He says they will use the money for anyway possible to help prevent another suicide. This year’s run is scheduled for Saturday, September 7th at 8 am and will feature speakers Austin Little and Mary Neubauer. Registration is $20 for adults and $15 for anyone 17 years of age and younger.
