The Pella City Council will review the next steps in approving the site for a new headquarters for Lely North America in October. Earlier this month, council adopted a rezoning ordinance for 65 acres of land just south of Highway 163 at Exit 44, and two public hearings are scheduled for the October 1st meeting to consider an urban renewal plan and financial incentives related to the project. Vice President of Lely Chad Huyser says the new headquarters will accommodate significant growth of their robotic milking operation. Additionally, Huyser says they will be expanding their local workforce as well, with potential 15 employees joining before the new HQ opens, and another dozen or so opening after the new plant and facility is online. The current space, located on 250th Avenue north of Vermeer Road, will go back to Vermeer Corporation.
