The annual Ruck for Vets event presented by the Knoxville VFW Post 3519 is right around the corner. This year’s event is scheduled for Saturday, September 14th. Anyone interested in participating has until Sunday, September 1st to register and still receive a shirt. Participants have the option to carry 40 pounds of gear and can walk, run or jog with all proceeds from the event going towards the VFW 3519 Relief Fund. Junior Vice Commander for the Iowa VFW and Senior Vice Commander for Knoxville VFW Post 3519 Michael Braman tells KNIA/KRLS News registration the day of the event is from 8 am to 8:45 am with step off set for 9 am. Braman says the State VFW Auxiliary President will be on hand along with other guest speakers. The post will be selling 50/50 tickets and will also have a silent auction as well as a beer garden and a free will donation meal. Live entertainment will also be featured and Braman says the Iowa vs Iowa State football game will be featured on the televisions. Registration for the event is $10 per person or $30 per person if you which you receive a t-shirt. A separate option to purchase just a t-shirt for $20 is also available.
