The Pleasantville football team started their 2019 season on a high note, but it took more than a quarter to get the scoring underway. Cale Anthony had five rushing touchdowns and led the Trojans to a 45-14 road win over Lynnville-Sully in a game streamed online at kniakrls.com.
After a scoreless first quarter, Cale Anthony capped off a seven-play drive with a 27-yard touchdown carry to put the Trojans up 6-0. Anthony added two more scores in the quarter, one of which was a 75-yard carry. Lynnville-Sully was able to find the end zone once before halftime, and it was a 24-8 Pleasantville lead at the break.
Ragan Krichau joined the party in the third quarter with a 54 yard touchdown reception to put the Trojans up 32-8. He picked up a 42-yard scoop ‘n score on the first play of the fourth quarter to increase the lead to 45-8. One last touchdown for the Hawks completed the scoring, and Pleasantville took home the 45-14 win. Head Coach Mack Jorth said that while Anthony was obviously the star of the show, it was truly an all-around team effort.
Pleasantville improves to 1-0 for the season while Lynnville-Sully drops to 0-2. The Hawks will head to Sigourney-Keota for their Week Two contest. Pleasantville has their home opener next week when they welcome in Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont.
