The annual Marion County Public Safety Night is coming up. The event will be held Wednesday, September 11th from 5 pm to 7pm on the square in downtown Knoxville. KNIA/KRLS and the Knoxville Hy-Vee are sponsoring the event which will include a free will offering meal courtesy of the Knoxville Hy-Vee grill. Marion County Emergency Management Coordinator Jeff Anderson tells KNIA/KRLS News he is excited for this years event because Kelly Kayser with the Knoxville Hy-Vee has made the event even better than years past and he says there are a few surprises coming. New to the event this year are awards that will be handed out to local first responders for the work they do on a daily basis. Awards will include, Marion County Firefighter of the Year, Marion County Dispatcher of the Year, Marion County Emergency Medical Services Person of the Year, Public Works/Engineering Person of the Year, and Marion County Law Enforcement Officer of the Year. Of the five awardees, one will be named as the 2019 Marion County Public Safety Person of the Year.
