
One person has passed away after an early morning fire in Indianola. According to the Indianola Police Department and Indianola Fire Department, police officers were dispatched to an apartment located at 1005 W. 3rd Ave for a fire at approximately 6:37am, but were unable to enter due to heat and flames. The Indianola Fire Department arrived on scene shortly after and put out the fire, after which a body was discovered in the living room area. The apartment is rented out by Linda Langenfeld, 64, and the Medical Examiner’s Office will conduct an autopsy to confirm identification. The State Fire Marshal, Indianola Police Department, and Indianola Fire Department are conducting an investigation into the cause of the fire; no foul play is suspected. Assisting on scene was the Carlisle Fire Department, Norwalk Fire Department, Warren County Sheriff’s Office, Milo Fire Department, Hartford Fire Department, Kiya Koda Humane Society, Indianola Fire Department, Indianola Municipal Utilities, and Mid-American Energy. The Red Cross is on scene to assist other tenants of the building.
