The Pella FFA had several members participate in the 2019 Iowa State Fair. Pella alumnus Chandler Jahner serves as the FFA State Presidentand had several responsibilities from August 8th through the 18th, and also exhibited sheep. He won Reserve Champion WBI Market Ewe and placed in the top ten with his other whether. Members John Fetty and Trett Langstratt welded and built a kayak trailer by hand, and received a purple ribbon, meaning they had met all the high standards and qualities the judges were looking for according to Pella FFA Reporter Aiden Huckstep. They also placed third overall in the large welding project. Ella Jahner won Supreme Champion Purebred Ewe and Champion Dorset Ewe. Brandon Ruisch built a CNC coffee table in the shape of Iowa with the stripes and stars in metal of the American flag, and for his efforts, he received a blue ribbon. Shianne Votava and Camryn Norton, both past Pella FFA members, also came back to compete. Norton received a purple in Ranch Horse Pleasure, good for 7th place out of 70 exhibitors and received blue marks in Showmanship and English Equitation as well. Votava showed two horses, Bob and Diamond. They earned numerous ribbons for their efforts and earned a purple ribbon, placing 6th in the state barrels.
