The City of Indianola is continuing studies on City Hall/Public Safety building efficiency, and several changes recommended by the study were approved at the latest city council meeting Tuesday. City Manager Ryan Waller tells KNIA News with an increase in public safety staff, changes had to be made to better fit their growing workforce.
“Because we’ve added firefighters, we need to provide them with workstations, which we don’t have. We are very short on bunk space. Our firefighters spend the night here, but we don’t have proper sleeping quarters for them. We do have male and female firefighters, and we need to make sure we have proper separation there. So what was discussed was how do we create within our existing structure, some workspaces where our firefighters and paramedics can get the job done that they need to, but also have a place to spend the night.”
