Cervelli’s strike enough in Central men’s soccer victory
After missing three games with an injury, midfielder Tony Cervell returned and powered the Central College men’s soccer team a 1-0 victory over Saint Mary’s University Friday night. On Sunday, Central travels to St. Peter, Minnesota for a noon match against Gustavus Adolphus College (Minn.).
Central gets two sweeps in volleyball tournament
Winning all six sets it played Friday afternoon, the Central College volleyball team beat Monmouth College and Iowa Wesleyan University 3-0 at the Knox Invitational. The Dutch (6-3) beat the Fighting Scots (4-4) 25-22, 25-13, 25-22 and downed the Tigers (3-5) 25-21, 25-23, 25-19. For day two of the Knox Invitational today, the Dutch will face Anderson University (Ind.) and Knox. Central has never played the Ravens and have swept the Prairie Fire in all three previous meetings (2005, 2012, 2014).
Central Football Team Looks for 2-0 Start
The Central College football team is at home for the second straight Saturday, looking for a 2-0 start. Coming off a 42-12 season opening win over Northwestern (MN) last week, the Dutch will host DePauw (IN) this afternoon. Game time is at 1:00 at Schipper Stadium in Pella, and Trevor Castle and Don DeWaard will call the action live on 92.1 KRLS. Pregame hits the air at 12:35.
