A brief severe thunderstorm warning brought the threat of hail to southeastern Marion County earlier today. At 4:40 p.m., the National Weather Service issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for extreme southeastern Marion County and Southern Mahaska County, as radar indiciated the potential of up to quarter-sized hail near Bussey at that time. The KNIA/KRLS Severe Weather Action Team was on the air with three staff members and updates from Weatherology for the storm as it tracked south of Oskaloosa. KNIA/KRLS is on the air for any severe thunderstorm or tornado warning for any portion of Marion and Warren Counties, with backup generators ensuring the coverage stays on if the power goes out.

Additional thunderstorms are possible off-and-on between now and Sunday evening, but the severe weather threat remains low during that time, with heavy rain possible in some areas.
