The annual Knoxville Cancer Relay is coming up. The event will be held Thursday, October 24th and run through Friday, October 25th. Proceeds from the relay will all go towards the annual best-in-the-nation Coaches vs Cancer event which will be held in January. Steve Linsley with the relay tells KNIA/KRLS News this year’s run will include a fun competition. Linsley says the teams are broken up into nine men and nine women who will talley their miles and at the end of the relay they will see what team wins. Linsley says the girls team was more excited then the boys team and he thinks the guys are a little nervous as there are a lot of great female runners in Knoxville. This year the relay will feature a special Memory/Honor mile that will be marked along Highway 14. People can make donations for signs to honor those who have battled or are currently fighting cancer with the signs to be placed along a special one-mile stretch at the end of the route.
