Fresh off a near upset of ranked Indianola, the Pella Christian volleyball team is hoping to build some confidence off of that match in a tournament this evening in Urbandale. The Eagles will head to Des Moines Christian for tournament action this evening. Head Coach Dr. Joanna Settles is hopeful they can find more momentum and some wins as they hit the road ahead of this invitational and another Saturday. Pella Chrisitan will join the tournament with host Des Moines Christian, Grinnell, Mount Ayr, Newton, and Van Meter, beginning at 4:15 p.m.
The Eagles cross country team will continue a busy week of action as they head to the Diamond Trail Golf Course in Lynnville tonight. Pella Christian will join several local teams and those from south central Iowa at the Lynnville-Sully competition, including PCM, Pleasantville, and Twin Cedars.
The Pella Cross Country teams will face the stiffest competition they’ll race against all season this weekend at Central College. The No. 8 in 3A Little Dutch and Lady Dutch will face off against some of the best teams in the Midwest at the Heartland Classic Saturday morning, with races beginning at 10 a.m. at the Central College Cross Country course in Pella. Head Coach Doug Cutler says the athletes they will see this weekend will prove to be some of the best runners the middle of the country has to offer at the high school level. Additionally, Cutler says it’s one more chance for the runners in green and white to test the course they will be trying to qualify for the state meet in October.
