Last weekend the Knoxville VFW Post 3519 held their annual Ruck for Vets event which is held each year to help raise money for the post’s relief fund. Over 80 participants took part in the event and helped raise over $8,000. Senior Vice Commander of the Knoxville VFW and Junior Vice Commander for the State, Michael Braman tells KNIA/KRLS News he ranks this year’s event as the best yet. He says last year’s event was in August and was on a hot day but since it was moved to September he feels it made for a better turnout. Braman says next year’s event will be moved to the third weekend in September to avoid conflicts with the Iowa vs Iowa State football game as well as the Late Model Nationals. Braman would like to thank the Knoxville community for their support, not just for the Ruck for Vets but for everything throughout the year, including helping the post become an All State and All American Post for the first time in the post’s history.
