The Marion County Democrats held their annual Picnic and Pie Auction this past Sunday. The event featured Presidential candidate Joe Sestak, representatives for candidates from much of the rest of the 2020 presidential campaign as well as U.S. Senate Candidates Cal Woods and Eddie Mauro. Woods tells KNIA/KRLS News he decided to run for the U.S. Senate because he felt compelled to. He says he doesn’t feel there is enough urgency on some of the challenges we face as a nation such as the health care crisis and climate change. Mauro says he’s running to ensure Iowa’s kids, America’s kids and the world’s kids will grow up in the best possible world. He says we need someone that is going to help build that world and he feels we are not getting that kind of leadership from Senator Ernst. Close to 60 people attend the picnic which raised over $1,700.
