Webb Shadle Memorial Library in Pleasantville will host author Linda McCann tomorrow. McCann will give a program on the history of The Civilian Conservation Corps in southeast Iowa. The Civilian Conservation Corps was a federal program to assist young men in supporting their families during the Depression years. Most Iowans know about the state park work done by the Corps but, over 75% of the work done in Iowa was involved in soil erosion, drought and flood prevention and planting trees. McCann has spoken with 21 men who were in the Corps, and will share their memories. The program will begin at 6pm and is free and open to the public.
