Coming off of a tough non-district schedule, the Pella Christian football team found a tick in the victory column in dominating fashion to start district competition, 59-16 over Woodward-Academy heard live on KRLS2.

The Eagles held the Knights to negative yardage in the first half and scored on six possessions in a row going into halftime. Despite several penalties and two Woodward-Academy return touchdowns, the Eagles scored twice in the 3rd quarter to ice it.

Head Coach Rich Kacmarynski says it was an impressive way to get to step one of their goal to win the district.

Luke Mulder finished with 3.5 sacks and returned a punt he blocked for a touchdown, and David Willis and Dan Jungling each scored three rushing touchdowns.

Pella Christian, now 1-4 and 1-0 in district play, has a big showdown looming Friday on Eagle Lane with the 4-1 Pleasantville Trojans, two of the teams likely to contend for the district crown.
