The PCM Mustangs took down the Chariton Chargers in a class 2A district 8 showdown 38-14 in Chariton Friday. The Mustangs would get hit in the mouth early by Chariton on a 67-yard touchdown pass that would give Sheraton a 7-0 lead early in the first quarter.  The Mustangs would battle back and would connect on a 10 yard touchdown pass from freshmen August Stock to junior Braden Berger to tie the game up. PCM would score again on a 28-yard touchdown run by Aiden Anderson and would add a field goal from 29 yards out to take a 17-7 lead. The Chargers would add one more touchdown to make it 17-14 before PCM would score 21 unanswered points on their way to a 38-14 win. Sage Burns would have three touchdowns on the night to lead the Mustangs who move to 4-1 overall and 1-0 in district play. Head Coach Greg Bonnett tells KNIA/KRLS Sports after moving players to different positions earlier in the season he thinks his squad is finally getting to where he wants them to be. Bonnett says he knows there is a lot of season left but Chariton is a good team and to see the way his Mustangs played, he knows they are starting to get it. The Mustangs will next take on Saydel at PCM next Friday night as the Mustang’s open up their new athletic complex for Homecoming.
