The Pella High School Student Council is lending a helping hand in raising awareness of breast cancer in October.
The group has partnered for several years with Pella Regional Health Center to organize Paint the Stands Pink night, which this year takes place on Friday, October 11th at Pella High School and October 18th at Pella Christian. The Eagles event is being organized by the Pella Christian Cheer squad. At the events, pink fan wear will be handed out to fans by the student council and the Dutch and Eagles cheer squads. This year, the Pella volleyball team will join in the effort, with a pink out game scheduled to wrap up the regular season on Tuesday, October 15th against Grinnell. Pella football fans can order a “Never Give Up” shirt online from Pella Regional by October 1st to have in time for both the football and volleyball games, while Eagles fans have until October 8th.
In addition to the Pella Regional event, Pella Christian wants to “Pink out the Park” for teacher Sheri Haveman, who recently started chemotherapy. They are also selling a t-shirt, with proceeds helping her fight.
KNIA/KRLS will once again broadcast the Save-a-Life Radiothon from 4 to 6 p.m. at Knoxville Hospital and Clinics on Tuesday, October 15th and Pella Regional on Thursday, October 17th. Hear more from the Pella Student Council on today’s Let’s Talk Pella.
