Several local cross country athletes remain in the latest rankings from the Iowa High School Track and Cross Country Coaches Association. Pella’s boys are the No. 7 ranked team in a deep Class 3A field. Josiah Wittenberg is the 16th rated individual as well. The Lady Dutch as a team have moved just outside the Top 15, and are listed as a “team to watch” among 3A girls teams. Caroline McMartin is the No. 12 ranked individual among girls in Iowa. Knoxville’s Norah Pearson is now considered the No. 4 rated runner in Class 3A, continuing her ascent up the polls as her phenomenal freshman campaign continues. PCM’s Paige Steenhoek, another locally talented 9th grader, has hopped to No. 27 in Class 2A. Riley Dunkin of Twin Cedars is the 8th ranked individual in Class 1A girls. The Indianola girls are a team to watch in Class 4A, led by freshman Emily Naughton, who is the 10th ranked individual among large school athletes. Boys teammate Logan Hoger is rated 27th in the 4A boys individual poll.
