The Melcher-Dallas Volleyball Squad took its rivalry match with Twin Cedars three sets to none on Thursday 25-11, 25-9, and 25-8 to clinch the Bluegrass Conference Eastern Division championship. The Saints and Sabers were trading blows in the first set when a time out was called with Melcher-Dallas leading 8-7. After that, the Saints finished the set on a 17-4 run and never looked back the rest of the way. Saints Coach Jesyka Nolte told KNIA Sports after the early struggles, she told her players to try a few different things at the net. Haley Godfrey had nine kills while Kynser Reed laid down seven kills and was 15/16 serving. Kacey Enfield went 17/17 serving with nine digs and twin sister Riley has 13 assists, and eight digs. The Sabers were without Brooke Roby due to illness and much of the night was trying to get used to a new rotation. Coach Randie Gist tells KRLS Sports, Roby’s absence was felt all night. Haley Hoch had two kills while Ali Mockenhaupt had 14 digs and one ace. Twin Cedars is now 7-10 and host Chariton next Thursday. Melcher-Dallas is now 10-4 on the season and travels to Southeast Warren on Monday.
