Precision, Inc. hosted their first-ever manufacturing day experience Thursday for elementary students from Pella Christian and Twin Cedars. Teri Vos helped organize a large event at Vermeer Corporation prior to coming to Precision, and says it’s a unique way to educate the community about what manufacturing is and the benefits and opportunities associated with the industry. Vos says students had the opportunity to participate in hands-on activities and ask questions of current employees from different departments. Students also had opportunity to imagine the future of pulleys and conveyors, suggesting conveyor systems could someday replace roadways and assist those with physical challenges.

As a 100% employee-owned company, Precision encourages a personal commitment to the business, local communities and engaging future workforce. Manufacturing Day provides a platform for Precision employee owners to participate in all three. Lyndi De Vries of Precison, Inc. helped host students, including her daughter, and shared, “I was very impressed with everyone’s creativity and how happy and excited the students were. Getting to share what you do every day with kids is really rewarding.”

Vermeer Corporation is hosting several area schools today in a return of their Manufacturing Day activities after skipping a year due to the tornado.
