A dedication and ribbon cutting ceremony for the new equipment and features at the Buxton Park Children’s Garden in Indianola is today. The new equipment was installed by Indianola Parks and Rec, and includes various musical equipment including a xylophone and drums. The ribbon cutting will take place at 10am. The park equipment was donated by several local organizations.
From Indianola Parks and Rec:
The founding gifts and what truly made this all start was given by the family and friends in memory of Lynn and Jim Cooper and their daughter Patricia Traster. This provided us the groundwork to develop the garden area, install musical instruments, stone walkway, plants, sand pit, signage, etc.
The play tunnel which is a fun area for the children to climb through, hide out in or climb over was gifted by the Indianola Tour of Homes – Touring the Traditions
The planter boxes which can be changed annually into new and different educational children’s themes were given by Ackworth Garden Club This year we had a vegetable box, herb box and a “play on names” box.
Decorative benches are still in the process of being custom built and will be painted by local artist Jeff Tadsen Art. This donation by Ray Walton and Joanne Walton addresses the need for adult seating in the area.
Lastly, the jump rope archway was a combined gift from Indianola Park Friends Warren County Philanthropic Partnership, and the Indianola Community Foundation.
