The leader of a legendary Iowa High School Baseball team is coming to Pella later this month. Kent Stock was the head coach of the 1991 Norway Baseball team, who in its final season due to school consolidation, won a state championship. Stock says he took a long journey to becoming the assistant coach for the legendary team before taking over in the final slate of games for the program before the school was absorbed by the Benton Community School District. The story was turned into a film in 2007 titled The Final Season, which will be shown Monday at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. in Douwstra Auditorium. Stock also wrote a memoir titled Heading for Home: My Journey from Little League to Hollywood, with a community book discussion coming on Wednesday, October 16, 12 noon, Pella Public Library, prior to Stock’s keynote presentation titled “How Do You Want To Be Remembered?” on Thursday, October 17, 7pm, at Douwstra Auditorium. Hear more from Stock about his life and upcoming visit to Pella on today’s Let’s Talk Pella.
