Local high school marching bands made the trip to the Urbandale Invitational to continue the competition season. In their first rated performance of the season, the Pella Marching Dutch swept the top of the Class 3A categories, and had the highest score of all schools participating. Indianola was the 3rd best team in 4A by 1/10th of a point and won best color guard. Knoxville placed 6th in Class 3A. PCM was also sixth in Class 2A.
Knoxville and Indianola will next compete during the day show at the 40th annual Valleyfest, while Pella will compete in the evening showdown in the final block of the evening. Stay tuned to KNIA/KRLS for continuing coverage of marching band competitions. PCM next performs at the State Contest in Pella on October 19th.
