The Pella City Council will receive a presentation from the Friends of the Pella Community Center about a concept for the Pella Community Center at a special work session Tuesday. The group will show renderings to provide an option for the city to consider as they work to upgrade the recreational services available in the community. Over the past few months, the Pella City Council has been beginning the process of deciding whether to renovate the current Pella Community Center on Union Street, build a new facility, or some combination of the two. No formal action has been taken, and council will be working with city administration to gather input and conduct additional research. Council is expected to become more firm with how to proceed sometime late this fall or early winter.
According to their Facebook page, The Friends of the Pella Community Center “is a group that is partnering with the City of Pella to renovate and preserve our historical original Pella High School building as a resource for Pella’s future as a Community Center at the Heart of Pella.”
The Pella City Council meeting begins at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the Public Safety Complex.
