With local elections coming up in November the Marion County Auditor’s Office would like to remind residents the Iowa legislature recently combined city council and school board elections. The newly combined election will be held on Tuesday, November 5, 2019 from 7:00 am to 8:00 pm. Historically, school elections were conducted in September with city elections following in November. Now, there will be one election for both jurisdictions on the same day. Voters who live within city limits will see positions on the ballot for their respective city in addition to school board positions. Rural voters, who do not live within a city will only have school board information on their ballot. With the newly combined election, Marion County voters will use their General Election polling location. This location will be the only location voters need to remember regardless of election type. All registered voters will receive a new voter registration card in the mail within a couple weeks that reflects their City and School Election polling place.
