The first ever Knoxville Octoberfest begins today and runs through tomorrow. The Octoberfest event will be held in conjunction with Knoxville High School Homecoming events. The weekend will be full of things to do for alumni coming back home, as the Knoxville Alumni Association will host their annual Homecoming Dance tonight from 7 pm to 11:30 pm at Dyer Hudson Hall on the Marion County Fairgrounds, as well as their first ever bags tournament on Saturday at 2 pm. The tournament will be held on the square at the Atlantic and Pacific beer garden. The tournament is $20 per team or $25 the day of. Local businesses will also hold different events on the square throughout the weekend to celebrate. The community-wide effort will include live music, food, drinks, store sales, dances, football and more. The Atlantic and Pacific Pub will also host their BBQ for Badges event today through Saturday as well with sampling taking place Saturday from 5 to 7 pm. All proceeds from the BBQ for Badges event will go towards Marion County Emergency Services. The KNIA/KRLS Lil’ Big Red Radio will be on locations playing music and making announcements.
