Points and offense were at a premium, but the Indianola football team forced five turnovers to pick up a huge 17-7 win over Johnston Friday night, keeping their undefeated district record alive in a game heard live on 94.3 KNIA. The first half went scoreless, with teams trading blows and each turning the ball over deep inside enemy territory. The Indians struck for the games first points in the third quarter with a Kael Kolarik 10 yard touchdown run, giving the Indians a 7-0 lead. A dropped punt led to the Indians getting the ball first and goal, but the Indians had to settle for a field goal to take a 10-0 lead. With Johnston driving, Peyton Boozell had the biggest play of the night to seal the victory, on a 55 yard pick six to close the door. Johnston scored late, but it was too late for a comeback attempt. Head Coach Eric Kluver tells KNIA sports this was an all-around team effort win. The Indians improve to 5-2 overall, and 3-0 in district play, and will have yet another tough matchup on the road at Waukee next Friday.
