The PCM Mustangs fell on the road Friday to the fifth ranked Des Moines Christian Lions 38-13. The Lions and the Mustangs would play through a stalemate first quarter with both teams getting takeaways and staying stout defensively. PCM would finally get the ball moving behind the running of senior Seth Griener who normally plays offensive and defensive line for the Mustangs but was able to carry the football effectively against the Lions. Griener however would be ejected in the second quarter after he was flagged for a person foul penalty in which the referee judged that he had thrown a punch while running with the ball. PCM Head Coach Greg Bonnett tells KNIA/KRLS Sports he did not think Griener threw a punch but thinks its a learning opportunity for his senior. Bonnett says he believes Griener threw a violent looking chop with his arm coming down to try to get the defenders arm off of him. Something he did as an inexperienced running back. Following the ejection of Griener the sails would be deflated for the Mustangs who would struggle the rest of the game to move the ball offensively. Des Moines Christian would lead 10-0 at the half and would take over in the 3rd quarter before cruising to the 38-13 win. PCM will now need to win out to have a chance at the playoffs and will next take on Clarke next Friday night.
