The Knoxville Fire Department held their Open House and Chili Feed Wednesday evening at the Knoxville Fire station located at 305 S. 3rd Street. Community members and families had the opportunity to enjoy a chili dinner while taking tours of the station. Activities for children were also featured as kids enjoyed a fire safety house as well as an obstacle course. MercyOne helicopter was on location throughout the event. Chief Cal Wyman with the department tells KNIA/KRLS News it is nice to be able to host the event and let the kids and families see what kind of equipment is used and just to talk about fire prevention during a good time to do it and hopefully help prevent someone from needing the department to help them. All proceeds from the event will go towards the purchase of equipment needed by the department.
