Local marching bands performed among the best in Iowa at one of the biggest competitions in the Midwest. Pella, Knoxville, and Indianola competed at Valleyfest, with the Panthers and Marching Indians performing in the day show and the Marching Dutch featured in the evening showdown. During the day competition, Indianola was 7th place in 4A out of 11 bands and 1.0 points away from 5th. Their Color Guard was ranked 3rd in class 4A as well. Pella was 2nd in Class B during the competitive evening event, also earning recognition for best percussion. The competitive Marching Band season ends this Saturday, with Pella, PCM, and Knoxville all performing in the Iowa High School Music Association State Festival at Pella High School this Saturday, followed by the Mid-Iowa Band Championships in Ankeny in the afternoon and evening.
