From the opening play, Pella wouldn’t be stopped. An 80 yard connection from Ryan Mace to Logan Shetterly began what was a dominating Friday night in a 42-14 rout over Newton 42-14, as heard live on 92.1 KRLS.
Pella also brought the defense in the first half, holding Newton to under 50 yards of offense and forcing two turnovers, while the offense moved with authority, scoring five times to set up continuous clock for the majority of the second half.
Logan Shetterly put together more highlight reel plays, scoring three times on Ryan Mace passes with 116 receiving yards, while Aaron Downs added a pair of touchdowns and two point conversions.
Pella improves to 6-2 overall and 4-0 in Class 3A District 7; a win over Grinnell next Friday would give them the outright title and a home playoff game to start the postseason.
