An open house was held for Indianola’s newest housing development, Heritage Hills 9, at the Indianola Country Club Tuesday evening. The development includes 13 lots with homes from three different builders, with tax abatements included. City Council member Bob Kling tells KNIA News this growth is a turning point for the city.

“This has been so exciting because I can remember there were several years when there was hardly any home development or building going on at all. I remember a number of years ago when they eliminated the tax abatement and we had one new house built that year. This is so exciting for the city when we look at the number of homes that are being built, the people that are moving to the community, and the economic development, it’s wonderful, it’s fantastic. It’s exciting because this is what we should have had. We have developers who’ve never been down here who are discovering this is a wonderful place, and a wonderful place to live and raise a family. I’m thrilled to death we are getting this type of development.”

The council approved the abatement over a year ago, and the growth fits within the first draft of the City of Indianola’s comprehensive plan.
