A Pella couple spent a few weeks away at a pilgrimage in Spain to learn more about themselves and the challenges others face with limitations in their mobility. Pella Christian High School Principal Dan Van Kooten and his wife Andi went on the Camino in Spain, traveling 70 miles with the I’ll Push You Foundation. Andi says they heard about the program nearly three years ago, and decided to join the group of 48 individuals traversing the countryside overseas, sharing their stories and pushing through the challenges of the trail. Andi says she’s been wheelchair bound since a trip to Nigeria just over two decades ago after a parasite robbed her of use of her legs. The Van Kootens are thankful for their time in Pella and how they’ve been supported raising their family since the diagnosis.
