This afternoon the children of Knoxville will have the opportunity to get dressed in their Halloween costumes and trick or treat during the Knoxville Optimist Club’s annual “Treats In The Trunk” event. The event will be held from 1 p.m. to 3 pm. at the Knoxville City Parking Lot across the street from the Knoxville Police Department. The event allows children, especially younger children, to have fun and to trick or treat in a safe environment while also playing some games. Craig Kelly with the Optimist Club tells KNIA/KRLS News his favorite part of the event is seeing the kids smiling, laughing and having a fun time. Kelly says the first 100 children who participate will receive a free pumpkin. He says the event is just an all around fun time for everyone. Candy and games will be provided by over 50 Knoxville organizations taking part in the event. The KNIA/KRLS “Lil” Big Red Radio will be on hand playing music, making announcements and handing out candy.
