With the leaves changing colors and finally falling to the ground the Knoxville Police Department would like to remind residents of the current city ordinances regarding the burning and raking of leaves. Community Service Officer Arlene Worrall with the department tells KNIA/KRLS News residents are reminded that burning of leaves and small twigs is allowed as long as it is not done during a county burn ban, is on the resident’s own property and only includes leaves and small twigs. Worrall says all burns must be supervised by an adult and have a water source available. She says raking of leaves into city streets is prohibited. Worrall says if anyone has any questions regarding current city code there is a link to all codes on the city’s website but she is also more than happy to answer any questions.
