The Simpson Storm football team had ample opportunities to score throughout the game against Coe College on Saturday, but several turnovers and a missed field goal contributed to a 10-7 loss in a game heard live on 94.3 KNIA. The Storm offense generated 339 yards overall, but spent the entire first half scoreless despite two first-and-goal situations, and Coe led at the halftime break 7-0. That score would hold throughout the third quarter, where the Storm had several more red zone opportunities but an interception, a missed field goal, and a turnover on downs stopped any offensive momentum. Coe kicked a field goal with 2:46 left to make it a 10-0, when the Storm connected with a Tanner Krueger pass to Terrhyn Jacoby for 31 yards to put the Storm in the endzone for the first time. The Storm subsequently recovered the onside kick, but couldn’t generate enough yards and turned it over on downs to end the game. Joe Meyer rushed for 106 yards on the day, but the Storm went 0-4 in the red zone, and threw three interceptions overall. The Storm fall to 4-3 on the season, and will next host rival Central next Saturday.
