The Pella School Board started the budgeting process and planning for the next academic year at their meeting Monday. The board set a public hearing for November 25th to determine the next school calendar and for a School Budget Review Committee Application, which is needed to request additional spending authority for increased students in both open enrollment and in-district residents. The board also reviewed the certified enrollment number for this school year, which determines per-pupil funding for the next fiscal year. In total, 26 more students are attending class this year than last, which means the district will receive additional funding for each of those new children.
