Law enforcement released the identity of the woman killed in an accident south of Attica Saturday.Marion County Sheriff Jason Sandholdt says an investigation has revealed 56-year-old Pamela Kreimeyer was killed by an inadvertently created pipe bomb intended to be a gender release announcement. . The explosion caused a flying piece of debris to strike the victim. 

She was standing with other family members approximately 45 feet from the device. It’s believed the projectile that struck the victim continued another 144 yards through the air before coming to rest in a field. This incident remains under investigation. Marion County Attorney Ed Bull gave a statement to KNIA/KRLS News

“I am aware of the incident that took place this weekend. My understanding is the sheriff’s department continues to undertake the investigation. I would assume then the next few days, once that investigation is completed they will bring their file for my review. At this point I have no further comment as I too, like your listeners, are gaining information as it is known.”

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Iowa State Fire Marshal’s Office, The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms, the Indiana Township Fire Department, the Knoxville City Fire and Rescue, and the Marion County Medical Examiner’s Office.
