The Humane Society of the United States will host a conference in Knoxville on Thursday, November 7th at the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame and Museum. The conference titled “How to Help Animals in Knoxville and Beyond,” will teach participants how to advocate for animals, how to work with state and local officials, why some organizations oppose stronger anti-cruelty laws, and what communities across the state are doing to protect pets. The event is free and open to the public. The conference will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and comes on the heals of a recent animal torture case in Knoxville in which an emaciated six month old puppy was found in a kennel starving with two broken legs and a puncture wound to its head.
