The PCM football squad will start defense of its class two-A state championship tonight with a first round playoff game against Benton. The difference from this season to last season, the Mustangs got to wear the home jerseys all four games, and had home field advantage in the first two rounds. This season PCM may have to take a few extra roads to Cedars Falls as PCM will travel to Van Horne tonight to take on the 8-1 Bobcats. Benton is a pass happy team with over 2300 yards through the air. That said, Benton also had a pretty good running game generating 1,308 yards on the ground. Mustangs Coach Greg Bonnett tells KRLS Sports Benton has several guys who can play, and hopes his team avoids the dreaded mistakes to have a chance. The winner tonight gets the survivor of the West Marshall and OABCIG game next Friday. You can hear the play-by-play with Derek Cardwell and Jeff Lindsay on kniakrls.com starting with the pregame at 6:30.
