After a year away from the UNI Dome, Pella is gearing up to make another run at championship glory in Class 3A as they begin the Class 3A Playoffs tonight in a marquee matchup at home. In the only game of its kind in the first round, two district champions square off as the No. 7 seeded Dutch welcome undefeated and No. 11 seed Independence. Pella Head Coach Jay McKinstrey says the Mustangs feature talented dual quarterback Logan Schmitt on a team hungry to prove themselves after qualifying as the 9th district champion in the class. Schmitt has thrown for 16 touchdowns with a 64.7 percent completion percentage, and rushed for over 1300 yards in the regular season. Coverage from Pella High School begins at 6:30 with Andrew Schneider and Randy Sikkema on the KRLS2 stream at KNIAKRLS.com, with kickoff at 7 p.m.
