A Knoxville woman was sentenced to 25 years in prison Thursday following her second felony drug related arrest. According to court documents in February a search warrant was served by detectives with the Mid Iowa Narcotic Enforcement Drug Task Force at a residence in the 100 block of south Attica Road in Knoxville. Law enforcement officers found 46-year-old Michele Brodie inside the residence along with 14 grams of a crystal like substance that Brodie admitted was methamphetamine. Officers also found multiple plastic baggies and a digital scale to which Brodie admitted to selling methamphetamine. Brodie was charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver, a class C felony, and was found to be a habitual offender and a second or subsequent offender as she was arrested in March of 2016 for possession of marijuan with intent to deliver as well as possession of methamphetamine. Brodie pled guilty to her most recent charge, and on Thursday was sentenced to 15 years in prison with a mandatory minimum of three years but had her sentence enhanced to 25 years in prison due to the second or subsequent offense. Brodie is also required to complete a substance abuse evaluation as well as a mental health evaluation.
